David graduated from the University of Manchester in 2007 being one of only a few to gain the degree with Honours in his year. Since qualifying he undertook general professional training working in General Practice and continued to advance his skills culminating in the award of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons. In 2010 David joined his family practice in Penwortham where he was able to develop his passion in precision dentistry. He began using an operating microscope for all his patients- this enables him to magnify the working area upto 20 times and apply the latest microscopic examination and treatment procedures to his patients, allowing him to be minimally invasive and preserve as much of your own tooth as possible. All aspects of treatments are undertaken with the microscope from examination and routine fillings to crowns and bridges. Prevention is key to long lasting treatments, which is enforced by all nurses and the hygienist who has her own surgery dedicated to this.
David has a strong belief that there is no replacement for your own teeth and tries to preserve them at all costs. Modern endodontic treatments have reduced the number of teeth that once would have been extracted and replaced with dentures, bridges or implants. As such, David undertook a part time 3 year Masters degree in Endodontics (root canal fillings) to enable him to offer these skills to his patients. He passed the degree with Merit in 2013. He now offers a referral service to local practices for his endodontic skills. David has memberships with the British Endodontic Society and the American Association Endodontists to keep his skills current.
David has attended numerous courses on advanced white fillings, crowns and veneers to ensure he can offer a complete service to his patients for all treatment modalities to a high standard. He has recently been trained to use ‘the Wand’, which is renowned for delivering painless injections. (see the special treatments tab for further information)
In 2014 David opened Broughton Dental Service to enable him to provide the standard of treatment he has trained for, in a relaxed, non-pressurised environment where patients are informed and educated about the treatment required but can choose how and when to have it.
